It's becoming common to tribute the efforts and achievements of this group, but in no way are the tributes less deserved.Search the WW II KIA database Those who answered the call in World War II faced challenges – and often dangers – that permanently
marked their lives. How they responded would affect not only themselves, but their families, their country and the world. Their time was unique. It was momentous. And for we who follow, it remains an
inspiration. The veterans will shrug off their accomplishments and tell you they simply did their job. Thank God they did. We carry their stories here so everyone has a chance to understand whet they did and
what they endured. We are starting with the stories Erie's newspapers published in 1994-95 to mark the 50th
anniversary of World War II. Dozens of veterans living in the Erie area at the time were interviewed by reporters and editors in a comprehensive effort to tell their story. Some of them have since passed away, but their stories remain no less significant.
